Jan 13: "What's New in Studio 8", by Ora Chisom. "Dynamic Publishing", by Cornelius Chopin and "Flash Paper vs. PDF?" Is it a contender?

Feb 10:
Two Hot Topics This Month! Wow! We had standing room only! 31 HOT Adobe-hungry guests/members. TIP: If you come to more than one meeting, then you're a member.
  1. 1:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.Data-Driven Flash. Cornelius Chopin from Rich Media Creative Services will discuss and demonstrate. For all you (me included), that feel a little scared about using ActionScript...well, you should have seen this presentation. It took the scare plum-out of a charging wereWolf. "Chopin" is a Master Flash User and excellent teacher! Next time he speaks, you won't want to miss it!
  2. 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Quick Start to Using Captivate (formerly RoboDemo). Sue Tedford from Health and Human Services Commission will demonstrate how to create rapid e-learning projects using Captivate and PowerPoint. Sue, just never ceases to amaze me. Her speaking skills, her motivational tone, and just her down-right good vibes makes me feel priviledged. This presentation was "quick, down, and dirty!" I'm ready to buy this tool, and get it working in 40 hours flat. One lady (Ann Yelderman [Man, I think this chick rox!] from the TDI state agency), said she had no prior experience, but made an 80-slide presentation in 40-hours. The link is here>>http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/wc/txcomp/txcomppreviews.html Between Sue and Ann, you know "YOU CAN DO IT". Got any questions? Click the comment button at the bottom of this topic. Send me an email. Ol' MZ Adobe (the editor) will promptly chat you back.
  • Also, more new and exciting benefits for AMMUG members will be announced. TotalTraining.com gave us tons of Adobe Software Training CDs. *We got bookmarks with 30% off.* And as always, lots of important Handouts.*Ohhh, but Sue also brought us the heart-shaped Valentine Cookies. The big ones, with the good icing. Thanks Sue! You're the BEST! Yum! Yummmmy! Sure glad you other chix/gents ate the rest before I went back for seconds. Thank you very much!

  • We will give away a Flash 8 training course at this meeting. Must be present to win. Ora Chisom WON the Flash Training DVD and will do a short demo of it at the APRIL meeting.

  • Jackie is doing a "Photoshop Book Review."

Jan Speaker: "Dynamic Flash Publishing", by Cornelius Chopin

Cornelius gave us a great live presentation of some groovy, flash samples from his website RichMediaCS.com
Then he showed us how easy it is to create a FLASH paper. A local AMMUGger (oh, yeah, I didn't write down his name. Bad Girl!) chiped in that FLASH PAPERS are more accessible-friendly than ADOBE PDFs. He knows, he works for the Visually Impaired. Move over, red Adobe, Flash Paper is moving in.

[
Cornelius Chopin is a Senior Flash Developer with over ten years working
with Flash and web-related technologies (HTML, CSS, Database, etc). He has
been part of AMMUG from its inception over 10 years ago. He presents
regularly at the AMMUG and posts his presentation training on-line for
anyone to view or use code. He has been using most of the Abobe/Macromedia
products for over ten years with a passion for Flash. His web site is
located at http://www.richmediacs.com.

Jan Speaker: "New Studio 8 Features", by Ora Chisom

This exciting dynamic presentation was led by Ora Chisom and the TAXCAT (that cat you see over there). Her presentation was the BEST. Ask her to personally send you a copy. Bet she will!

Ora Chisom,
is currently employed with the Department of State Health Services on the CFO Special Projects Team. Her role is developing and coordinating training on PeopleSoft Financial applications and other revelant topics relating to CFO policies and procedures as well as developing web-based training modules for the agency. Ora has been providing training and technical support for the past 16+ years. She has received certification as an Instructional Designer Developer and Training Generalist and possesses a wealth of knowledge on a variety of software applications.

[Editor's Note: Don't let this sweet, little demure face fool you. This savvy lady packed a powerful punch during her presentation, if ya know what I mean. Toastmasters, beware, Ora's got a better method. We all roared with laughter and tears as this presentation unfolded.

Welcome to our Blog/Newsletter

by kendall@Webpubs.us, Newsletter Editor

Sue Tedford, our User's Group leader asked me to start this newsletter to satisfy the requirements of Edward Sullivan [our Adobe Rep]. Oh, man is this like the Ed Sullivan show?

This newsletter illustrates how much we value what Adobe provides and what a terrific job we do in order to get the most support. We have to keep this Newsletter Updated to Real Time All the Time, so send your posts this way.

Our AMMUG Goal: "Keep-it-Really, Really New News not any Dead- Dry News." Readily reachable each time you surf us up.

In exchange, Adobe is commited to providing us guest speakers, vendors to offer our groups something, and CARE Bear packages.

How to Post:

Click here to send a request to kendall@webpubs to invite you. Posting is by invitation only.
When you are logged in as a member to contribute, have your profile ready. You'll need it.
a) Picture a small one (yes, an animated or goofy pic will do.)
b) Your Ammug Contributions: website, speaker, trainer, how long attending, leadership (stuff like that)
c) How you use Adobe products in your life.

Writing Style:
a) Informal, informal, informal. Cheeky/friendly conversational tone is fun. So, keep it REAL.
b) Font: Trebuchet, Small.
c) Add extra line spaces after 2 or 3 long-winded sentences. If it has more than 10 or 12 words, then it's long-winded.

***If in doubt, email me to edit your Post. I don't mind. I'm an editor. But, I'm definitely a cheeky editor. ;)***
